Co-op Information

"CO-OP WORKS!

Co-operative Education is a form of experiential learning where a student can earn secondary school credits while gaining real-world work experience."

Mr. F.M. Prentice, OCT - Co-op

                         EXPERIENCE THE WORK FORCE

There are a number of reasons that every student should be encouraged to take Co-op during some point of their secondary school career:

  • career exploration

  • gain practical work experience

  • earn credits while out of school

  • satisfy certain compulsory credits

  • Co-op could lead to an apprenticeship or part-time employment

  • improve your resume

  • gain valuable references and contacts

Some of the specialized Co-op programs that exist at
St. Joseph’s:

  • Retail Management

  • Ecoventure

  • Hairstyling and Esthetics

  • Barrie Police Services

  • Military Co-op with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters

If you’d like more information about Co-op, ask your Guidance Counselor, or visit the Co-op Office in Room 139 and speak with any of our Co-op teachers.
